Is It Possible To Get Rid Of Pollution?

Most of the handlings regarding pollution in our air has been to curtail the amount of factory and vehicle emanations. The general agreement is that nothing can be done about it and it will get worse.

However, we do have some methods to produce solutions with the technology that is available to us. A very unique method to solve pollution is to use negative ion technology. Negative ions are created from an electrically charged atom or several atoms that are formed from the gain or loss of a single or many positive electrons.

Here is a simple non-technical explanation of how negative ions work. Put up a negatively charged magnet next to a positively charged magnet and the two snap together. It is similar to how a negative ion air purifier works in the home or office. The unhealthy particles in the air are attracted to the purifier and gets trapped in the filter system.

What if this technology was increased in size? Perhaps the street light poles in a city can become negative ion charged. The particles of pollution in the air would be attracted to the poles and land in a heap on the ground. Street crews can go around and sweep up the pollution off of the ground.

Another solution is good old trees. Trees are our best "weapon" against air pollution. Trees breathe in pollutants and breathe out fresh air. A single tree can absorb about 48 pounds of carbon dioxide a year.

Take frequent walks in your neighborhood and pick up the seed pods that are just laying around. Of course, you should leave some for the birds but if no one claims the seed pods, the trees will never grow because in a city there is tar and cement. You can find a full variety of trees such as pine, oak, fruit and flowering trees. Plant the seeds in the ground or, if you don't have the space, in a container.

Another place that trees can be planted in a city are on the flat rooftops of apartment, factory and other buildings. Trees wouldn't be able to grow directly on the rooftop, containers would be needed. Once done, it would not only look beautiful but also give shade to the building and street below. To make it even more attractive, smaller plants can be grown under the rooftop trees.

Right now, today and this minute, you can do something effective about the pollution in the air we breathe.
