Aspen End Notes

”Life is about perception, not reality.” I believe truth is somewhat flexible, in that what a certain object symbolizes and reflects to each of us may be slightly different. Though our perceptions may sometimes give us different information about a certain thing, that which You perceive is what is most true for you, and what I perceive is what is symbolized and reflected to me. Even though the interpretations may be different, they can both be true. It is like the three blind men feeling the elephant. One said it felt like a tree trunk. Another said it felt like a snake. And the third described it as a hard, smooth, curved piece of bone. And they were all right in their description of the elephant, because they were feeling different parts of it.

On the fourth weekend of the Druid Project, Karin gave us a handout about the aspen. I don’t recall who the author was, but two things that were listed were the element, which was said to be Water, and the ruling planet, which was said to be Saturn. I am sure that was the correct element and ruling planet reflected from the aspen to the author of that article. Personally, I feel very little of the water element in the aspen. Instead, I feel a lot of Air and some Earth. I also don’t feel much of a Saturnine influence, but a strong influence from the planet Mercury, fast moving airy energy, quick clever-mindedness, wild-spirited, etc.

Another term I would use to describe the aspen is ”Drama Queen.” She obviously loves to put on a show, as is evident to anyone visiting the Rocky Mountains in the fall. This has also been very evident to me personally after my time spent in meditation with the aspens and the aspen-elves. They loved giving me dramatic displays of their fairy-world. As I’ve said before, if the aspen were a human, she would be the life of the party.
