Aspen Abundance Meditation

Today’s theme for me with the aspen was abundance. We started out as usual, with Karin leading us through a grounding and connecting meditation, becoming one with the aspen. I always feel like I grow mile-deep roots when we do one of those, and have to will myself to move afterwards. After slowly coming back to my senses, I eventually managed to get my trunk and branches moving… pardon me, I eventually got my arms and legs moving and began climbing up the hill. I found a stand of denser and more mature aspens than any I had visited in the past.

I spent some time just standing there, sinking back down into the earth and drifting off into otherworldly realms. As I stood there, gazing at the forest floor, I was transfixed by the abundance of yellow leaves and the abundance of such a wide variety of vegetation, and I had a strong sense of how this was no coincidence, but rather a distinct quality of the aspen.

So when I drifted off back into meditation and the aspen-elves came to greet me, I asked them to initiate me into their energy of abundance. I will relate my experience first, which may originally not make much sense, and then later give my interpretation of it.

After I had made my request for an initiation, the elves carried me off on their shoulders. (I have a feeling they enjoy hoisting people through the air.) Then abruptly, they flipped me over, splat, into a mud bath. After rolling me around thoroughly to make sure every inch of my body was well covered in mud, they brought me back out. Needless to say, I was no longer wearing any clothes at this point. Don’t ask me what happened to them.

The elves somehow sprayed me with clean water to get all the mud off of me, and dried me off. Then they took me to their tailor for a new suit of clothing. What I received was a two or three-layered robe of something that felt like silk – light yellow with a hint of red. Reminiscent of the golden color of the aspens in the fall, but lighter, less brightly yellow. The elves also adorned me with precious stones and metals in the form of rings on my fingers, and other kinds of jewelry. Once fully attired, I went off again – carried, of course – through a set of great wooden doors. The doors swung open to – you guessed it – a celebration, a feast, what else?

I don’t recall much from the feast other than that it seemed to last for a while. Nothing happened there that stuck on my mind. At the end of it, the elves placed me on the back of a moose and set me riding through the mountain aspen woods, holding on for dear life. It was a gorgeous ride, very exhilarating and uplifting. I truly felt like a king. The moose took me up on a mountain ridge with a most breathtaking view. Then things began to fade and I drifted back into my physical human body.

So what does all of this have to do with being initiated into abundance? My guess is that the initiation would be different for each individual, suited to each one’s personality and needs. For me, it took the form of the above story. I feel the mud represented bringing out my resistance-to-abundance issues – bringing my internal mud to the surface – which had to be done before I would be ready to receive my abundance. Then, of course, those issues had to be rinsed off before I could be dressed up in my rich attire, before I could be clothed in my abundance.

The feast was to celebrate “mission accomplished.” As I have said before, I feel the aspen-elves will use any excuse for a celebration. The moose ride was like the married couple driving off from the wedding celebration in a car with strings of tin cans rattling behind, and “Just Married!” in big bold letter on the rear. However, I also felt there was a symbolic significance to why the elves chose the moose as the animal to give me a ride.

The moose is, like the elves, a very self-empowered, undaunted, uninhibited being. An adult moose has no natural enemies, save for humans. It has few fears, and for the most part lives a very graceful, peaceful, joyful existence, just like the aspen-elves do. The difference being that the elves are a lot more playful, “wild and crazy,” while the moose is more calm and serene. Still, the common denominators between the elves and the moose are probably important attributes for anyone wanting to open up to receive their abundance from the Universe – being self-empowered, uninhibited, at peace and in joy.

I feel very grateful to have received this abundance initiation by the elves. Shifts can happen very quickly on the etheric plane. However, I realize that physical reality rarely responds instantaneously to etheric shifts. I expect the effects of my initiation to gradually permeate into my physical reality. It would be comfortable and convenient if only the end result of the initiation were to manifest. But I find it more likely that all steps of the initiation process will begin to manifest themselves sequentially, including the mud bath and the cleansing.

Hair Bands

I found two little girls’ hair bands today, in two separate places in the aspen woods. My wife said that if it had been her, it would have symbolized getting in touch with her inner girl. Even though I am male, I probably have an inner girl as well as an inner boy. But I feel the symbolic significance for me in finding these two little girls’ hair bands is different than it would have been for my wife. The aspens have from the onset been working with me on letting go of my control issues, trying to teach me to be more relaxed, easy going, laid back, going with the flow, be more playful, and so on, in other words trying to get me to ”let my hair down.” Which might happen if you lose your hair band. (In actuality, I’m a balding male who keeps the remainder of my hair trimmed short. So this would have to be symbolically speaking, only.) The fact that they were clearly little girls’ hair bands, and not those of adult women, may signify the playfulness and youthful attitude the aspens are trying to instill in me.
